AWF Advisor starts postdoctoral position in Norway
AWF advisor Dr Lucy Piggott has started a new role as Postdoctoral Fellow within the Department of Sociology and Political Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. Within this role, she will be leading on the delivery of a research project examining gender equity in the governance of the sport for development and peace sector. Despite an increased focus on gender equity in sport leadership and governance, including research and projects delivered by the AWF, no academic work has conceptualised, theorised or empirically investigated gender equity in SDP leadership and governance. This means that there is an overall lack of understanding on the extent to which governance of the SDP sector is gendered.
Lucy’s research aims to map female representation (as well as diversity more broadly) across the leadership teams of SDP organisations and gain an understanding of the intersectional gendered experiences and perceptions of both female and male leaders of transnational SDP organisations. In addition to this research project, Lucy will be teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to write their dissertations in English. Lucy will continue to act as an advisor to the AWF in her new role.
