Our strategy group
The University of Chichester established a Strategy Group to provide strategic advice to the AWF. It is chaired by Dr Anita White OBE and membership includes personnel connected to the AWF (the two co-founders, the chair, the executive officer and the international adviser) as well as the following individuals:
Clare is the Senior International Relations Advisor at UK Sport. She has been a member of the AWF strategy group since 2013 and provides an international lens to discussions. As a passionate advocate Clare proactively promotes WSLA to her international network.

Carolyn Carr
Carolyn is a graduate of the University of Chichester, where she also successfully completed an MPhil in the field of women and sport supervised by Dr Anita White. During a twenty year career in sports development Carolyn was a strong advocate women and sport, including through positions with the Women’s Sports Foundation, and in local government. In recent years Carolyn has worked in economic development in West Sussex, and brings a broad perspective to the strategy group.

Mike is the Director of the Institute of Sport and Head of Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Chichester. Mike has led the Department for several years and during this time has restructured such that it is now best placed to continue to deliver nationally recognised programmes and positioned to deliver national and international research and consultancy, thus contributing fully to the University strategy.
Nick is currently CEO of England and GB Hockey and has been a member of the AWF strategy group from the beginning. Nick has been a keen advocate of the AWF, has taken part as a panel member in one of the early seminar series in 2013, and through his previous roles at the International Cricket Council and England Golf, has supported team members taking part in WSLA.
